In this new blog post we are going to talk about some differences between modern and contemporary design furniture. Modern items refer to the pieces created from the so-called Modern Movement, which defended an international style, lacking decoration and claiming industrial work. On the other hand, contemporary items are applied to more current design closer to the 21st century.
Modern design has had many followers in different parts of the world, who have assumed this trend almost as a dogma. On the other hand, contemporary design depends more on the personality of the authors and does not obey universal rules.
Differences between modern and contemporary design furniture
In contemporary design, an interest in sustainability can be appreciated, by trying to adapt the production, transport and recycling systems of products to these parameters.
For this reason, new materials that meet these requirements are welcome, without giving up traditional noble materials. Freshness is sought in aesthetics. In this regard, the color palette plays an important role, risking shades, degrees of warmth and coldness, and even the absence of color.
For all this, artisanal items in contemporary design furniture acquire a lost value of vital importance. Another key aspect is the importance of the local versus the global. We keep this milestone very much in mind in our new slogan “Worldwide design. Handmade in Spain”.
Contemporary design furniture moves between the rational and the emotional, with special attention to formal beauty to define lines full of sensuality
